Street Food

Streetside food in Kota

Whether it is Kota or my village, the best thing about our country is that street food is available everywhere. The day I arrived here, I felt very down as for the first time I was away from home and knew no one here. I was afraid, and my other flatmates were also unknown to me. They seemed to be nice, but what can you tell in just a day.

So to know the place well, I set my foot out and started wandering the road. The next thing I saw was the panipuri, and I remember how I rushed towards it. Like every girl, I just loved it.

The good thing about street food in Kota is that you will find ample stalls on every road. Also, you can get anything on a budget. The pani-puri here just costs Rs 10-20, and you get five puris in that. This is the cheapest I have ever seen.

Another great street food you can buy here is the Kachori, although you cannot consider it fast food. Kachori is one of the best street foods that you can get here, and most people regard it here as their breakfast.

If you ask me kachori when taken as breakfast, it must be taken with a poha and chai. This is not regarded as junk food here but as a healthy street breakfast.

The list just begins with it; there is a new kind of patties that I have eaten here. The one which contains a stuffing other than the normal potatoes. It is one of the tastiest patties that I have ever eaten. In my village, this wasn’t the case as they only had normal patties. Here you get stuffing of onion, mayo, namkeen, and god knows what other.

Even Resonance has a cafeteria on each floor, and they serve junk food. The best thing for me that they serve is wafers.

There are many restaurants here as in front of the city mall you find plenty of them, but they can never match the taste of street food. The chaat and pani puri here are really delightful. Another thing that I tasted here for the first time was ice cream rolls. They are really interesting rolls as you can get them in any fruit flavor. From litchi to mango, you just need to name the fruit.

I first tasted it on a date at Pizza Hut with him, and it was the dessert for us. That day was fantastic. Moving on, then you get to have an exciting chaat just behind the Resonance where you can eat Tikki and Chaat mixed with a namkeen in just Rs 20. Believe me, it is one of the best flavors in Kota, and I often like to enjoy it with my friends and boyfriend. I don’t know how one can live in Kota without trying that. Although it is in front of the boy’s hostel, so you get the stares but Nevermind.

You should see how these street food vendors get busy when the classes end in resonance. A lot of students surround them, and they don’t even have the space to stand comfortably. Girls surround the pani puri guy like he is Shahrukh Khan.

The thing is that it is tough to find tasty momos in Kota, and once you find them, you know that they won’t last long. The one stall near Resonance is under the fly-over, making Chinese street food really tasty. You can get most of the Chinese food there.

With that Chinese stall, you would find the ones serving egg dishes like omelet and bhurji. My boyfriend and I do visit that place mainly for Chinese street food. We love to spend time there.

Many of the street vendors here aren’t from Kota as they have arrived here from various parts of India like us. Many of them are from MP, UP, and Bihar. The weird thing is that all of them have already marked their territories, and they never fight over each other territories. They all have a mutual understanding.

There is even a street stall for ice-cream here as it is behind the resonance, and my boyfriend and I sometimes meet there after dinner. He likes to pamper with a lot of chocolates and ice-cream, so. I love these things about him and adore him for them.

Moving on, there are a lot of street vendors just outside my hostel too. Although they don’t make the street as tasty as mentioned above, they are good. You can satisfy all your cravings with them. Next, you have some of the rolls like cream and spring rolls here, too, which are really good.

Many of the street vendors also offer home delivery service here. They like to provide them with on the bikes, and many don’t charge for the shipping. There is a street food vendor that sells the tastiest red sauce pasta, and the good thing is that he also delivers them. I have tried the pasta from other vendors, but his pasta has an exciting flavor.

The sad thing is that you cannot have a party in front of these street food stalls. If it happens, I would love to have my birthday party here as that would be so much economical and the food would be amazing. The plus-size to this would be that you would be able to support a poor vendor.

The street food in Kota is amazing. It is so much good that I would really miss it once I get into college and go home.

The one who visits this fantastic place must try the street food here as, without it, the Kota life is nothing but study, study, and study. These are the spots where a student and get relief from the tension surrounding their head.

The street food in Kota is going to be one of the most amazing memories in my life.
